At Literacy Cottage, instruction is intentionally designed to meet children where they are and help them move forward with confidence. Small-group sessions allow for individualized attention within a warm, encouraging environment where students can strengthen skills, experience success, and grow as readers. Students are thoughtfully grouped by skill level and instructional needs to ensure targeted, effective instruction. Individual sessions are also available for students who may benefit from the added support and personalization of a one-on-one setting.
At Literacy Cottage, every service reflects the same purpose: to provide skilled instruction and caring guidance that help children become stronger, more confident readers.

dyslexia intervention
60-Minute Sessions | 3 Days Per Week
Dyslexia-specific intervention provides explicit, systematic, sequential, and multisensory instruction in the structure of the English language. Lessons integrate phonemic awareness, sound-symbol relationships, decoding, spelling, syllable patterns, morphology, fluency, oral language, comprehension, and written language.
Instruction follows a carefully sequenced progression while remaining responsive to each student’s learning needs. Ongoing mastery checks help guide instructional pacing and identify skills that may benefit from additional practice and reinforcement.
The goal of Dyslexia Intervention is to strengthen the language and literacy foundations that support accurate, fluent reading and spelling while helping each student grow in confidence, independence, and joy as a reader.

reading intervention
60-Minute Sessions | 2-3 Days Per Week
Reading intervention is designed for students who need targeted instruction to strengthen specific skills, close reading gaps, or address areas where progress has been difficult.
Instruction begins with an understanding of each student’s current strengths and areas of need. Lessons are then intentionally planned to address identified skill deficits through explicit, research-informed instruction. Intervention will focus on phonological awareness, phonics, decoding, spelling, fluency, vocabulary, handwriting and comprehension.
The goal of Reading Intervention is to meet each student where they are, identify areas where additional support is needed, and provide focused instruction that builds a stronger foundation for continued reading growth..

kinder readiness
45-Minute Sessions | 2-3 Days Per Week
Kinder Readiness provides young learners with a joyful and intentional introduction to the foundational skills that prepare them for a successful transition into kindergarten.
Designed for preschool-aged children preparing to enter kindergarten, sessions build early literacy skills through developmentally appropriate, engaging instruction. Children are introduced to important pre-reading skills such as phonological and phonemic awareness, letter recognition, letter-sound relationships, early handwriting, oral language, and beginning concepts of print.
Just as importantly, Kinder Readiness helps children become comfortable with the rhythms of learning—listening, participating, following directives, working with others, and approaching new challenges with confidence.
The goal of Kinder Readiness is to give each child a strong foundation as they enter kindergarten—feeling prepared, capable, and excited to learn.
Literacy Cottage is a proud TEFA-approved vendor, helping families utilize their educational funds toward meaningful, individualized literacy support for children.
